Status
We are actively writing the proposal with our co-leads. The CRG proposals are due October 31, 2016.
Goals
The Cancer Collaborative Research Group will be composed of patients, clinicians, and investigators who will leverage and promote the unique strengths of PCORI and PCORNet collaborating networks to: 1) identify and prioritize top patient-centered cancer research questions; 2) develop approaches for using patient-generated data and real-world electronic data to address unmet research needs in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship of cancer; 3) promote and facilitate patient participation in clinical research; and 4) reduce disparities and 5) improve cancer prevention, care and outcomes. We propose to test the hypothesis that executing CRG core functions (research prioritization, communication and team-building, engagement of broad cancer research stakeholder groups, curation of clinical and patient-generated data) will catalyze patient-centered cancer research as measured by the number of projects attaining PCORnet Study designation, prep-to-research queries conducted and proposals developed for funding
ABOUT’s Role
ABOUT will coordinate the patient-engagement efforts, adapting our GAP360 rubric to the wider cancer community to identify and prioritize research questions that are important to patients. ABOUT will participate in the Research Interest Groups and Research Teams assuring that the patient voice is included in all aspects of the research process.
